About the Author The late Frank E. Gaebelein (New York University and Harvard University) for many years held the position of headmaster of the Stony Brook School. He was coeditor of Christianity Today and devoted himself to editing, writing, and speaking.Willem VanGemeren (PhD, University of Wisconsin) is professor of Old Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He is the author of a number of books, including Interpreting the Prophetic Word (Zondervan) and a commentary on Psalms in the Expositor's Bible Commentary series (Zondervan).Allen P. Ross is professor of Divinity at Beeson Divinity School, Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama. His articles have appeared in Biblical Viewpoint, BibliothecaSacra, and Kindred Spirit, and he has contributed to the BIBLE KNOWLEDGE COMMENTARY, the CHRISTIAN LIFE BIBLE, and the BIBLICAL HEBREW HANDBOOK. About the Author
Professor Ian Hutchings has been GKN Professor of Manufacturing Engineering since 2001 at the University of Cambridge. Before that, he was Reader in Tribology in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy.
In 2005 he founded the Inkjet Research Centre in the Institute for Manufacturing in which he and colleagues investigate the science and technology which underpins this important industrial technology. From 1998 to 2012, Professor Hutchings served as the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal, Wear.
He is the sole author of first edition of 'Tribology: Friction and Wear of Engineering Materials' published in 1992, as well as having authored numerous journal and conference papers. In 1994, he was awarded the Tribology Trust Silver Medal, in 2000 the Donald Julius Groen Prize by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and in 2007 the Staudinger-Durrer Prize by ETH Zurich

But since the primary interest of the study is in theoretical considerations, the delay is not, perhaps, as consequential as it might otherwise be. On the other hand, the situation within TVA as it was in 1943 represented the close of a decade of its operation, a point to be borne in mind by those interested in TVA shistory for its own sake. The files and the personnel of the Tennessee Valley Authority were the primary sources of research data. The unpublished record has been accorded the same status as personal interview materials, so that sources and quotations cannot always be given specific reference. I have endeavored to protect the anonymity of those in and out of the Authority who have helped me to an understanding of the TVA smethods and program. At the same time, informants on questions of detail have been restricted to those within TVA who have worked on the programs discussed. A check with the written record was made wherever possible. Interviews with officials in Washington and in the Tennessee Valley states were also of assistance. It is hoped that a contribution has been made here toward the evolution of a theory of organization. In that sense, the study is not practical or programmatic. It is believed, however, that a practical relevance will be discerned by those involved in action who must take into account such general relations within an(Typographical errors above are due to OCR software and don't occur in the book.)
